Kanisa Regulated Non-WDT SACCO Society Limited (Kanisa SACCO) is a registered, community-based non-withdrawable deposit taking cooperative society founded in 1981 (Registration No: CS/3530) on the principle of enhancing members’ economic foundation by encouraging and promoting a culture of saving and prudent borrowing. The SACCO is licensed to undertake back-office savings activity where members come together to save, pool together their resources and borrow to develop themselves. To meet emerging human resource needs, the SACCO seeks to recruit competent, experienced, and trustworthy individual to fill the position of Senior Credit Officer.

The position is open to Kenyan nationals only.

SENIOR CREDIT OFFICER (1 Post)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Term of Employment: Three-year renewable contract

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of the position is to aggressively follow up on accounts in arrears and reduce the Non-Performing Loans and maintain within the industry acceptable levels. In addition, assist the SACCO maintain a healthy Loan Portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  1. Ensuring quality loan book are maintained at all times by ensuring proper documentation of loan applications and ensuring the Society portfolio at risk is below 5%;
  2. Enforcement and implementation of the credit policy, procedures and processes;
  3. Ensure overall effective and efficient credit management and administration; particularly with respect to loan repayment and reporting;
  4. Oversee the input of data, functioning of the loan tracking system and preparation of timely and accurate reports;
  5. Perform appraisal of loans and work out member’s entitlement and amount granted;
  6. Recommend loan application to be forwarded to Credit Committee for approval;
  7. Responsible for the preparation of files for the Credit Committee meeting and minutes in such meetings;
  8. Attend to members queries and concerns in regard to loan applications;
  9. Promotion of credit products and services in the target market;
  10. Advice Management through the Chief Executive Officer on demands for loans;
  11. Assist the Credit Committee in developing sound credit policies;
  12. Ensure that members whose applications have been deferred or rejected from loan office for not conforming to the loans policy are promptly advised;
  13. Ensures that all members correspondences on loans, withdrawals and membership are promptly attended to;
  14. Growing non-withdrawable deposits/savings;
  15. Maintaining accurate loan register;
  16. Maintaining guarantors’ records;
  17. Ensuring all loan repayments and interest income is recovered;
  18. Coordinating with the Finance department to ensure adequate and accurate provision for defaulted loans;
  19. Maintaining confidentiality of members’ loan information;
  20. Drafting demand notices to loan defaulters;
  21. Preparation of monthly insurance premium schedule for submission to the insurance company;
  22. Preparation and generation of loan schedules and statements;
  23. Reviewing the performance of Credit Officers;
  24. Ensuring that all loans comply with lending regulations and policies of the Society; and
  25. Any other lawful duties may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Appointment to the position will be made from persons who:

  1. Are holders of a Business-related degree or its equivalent from a recognised university and CCP/CPA Part 2 or its equivalent

or CCP/CPA Part 2 and have satisfactorily served as a Loans /Credit/Recovery officer in the Society or a comparable position with similar responsibilities in another SACCO or in a related organisation for 2 years.

  1. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  2. Diploma in Co-operative Management will be an added advantage.
  3. Have demonstrated high financial management capability and Investment.
  4. Have good knowledge of Information Technology.
